Sunday Six (10/9/2022)
It was pretty quiet this morning, maybe because there was so much excitement yesterday at the State Fair. Our plan for today's Month of Sundays foray is to capture images on Elm Street, from Hall on the east to Walton on the west.
Here's a bonus, though - we approached Elm by coming up Hall Street and saw this really nice work at the corner of Commerce and Hall. I think it's just recently completed, and just has a wonderful impressionistic vibe.
On to Elm! You'll see this geometric work on Hall Street as you turn left onto Elm at the Dallas Comedy Club.
There are several works by @theHouseofPannek on buildings of the McMurray Metals Company, on Elm about halfway between Hall and Walton.
The first is "Finding Jaws", #11 by @thehouseofpannek. Mashups like this are a kick!
There's "Back to the Futures" next door (7 of 10) - see the DeLorean painted on an overhead door hiding behind a tree!
And then, around the corner from Morty and Doc, there's a trio portrait in "Don't Pannek 214", again from @thehouseofpannek.
Next door is Richie Rich as the "Wolf of Bitcoin", 5 of 10 from @thehouseofPannek.
Across Elm Street, this time REALLY hidden by a tree, is an abstract black and white doodle work by @ben_reynolds_art.
Look back over your left shoulder to the east to see the USO-themed "Welcome Home Troops" mural in the parking lot at Terry Black's.
From the doodles, keep going west to the intersection with Walton. You'll see the familiar half-round Mozzarella Company logo on the southwest corner of the intersection, then you'll see a striking bull and dragon mural by briks just next door on Walton (yes, I know, it's not strictly on Elm but I think it belongs in this post), with a nice doorway portrait of Anthony Bourdain by @tedctran.
This is at Niwa Japanese Barbeque on Walton - you'll certainly see two as you walk down Elm. Check out the doorway portrait too.
Back across Elm on the northwest corner of the intersection at Mama Mia Pizza you'll see this spaced-out pizza munchies mural.
If you are a grackle fan (you know who you are), you'll enjoy this wall decoration at the residences on Walton next door to Mama Mia's.
