About this site
The Whataburger in Mesquite.

As a young person, I was attracted to light in the darkness.

After a long day's travel in the family station wagon I looked for the bright neon lights of roadside motels. The moon and stars at my grandparents' farm in north Texas lit up the sky. As an adult I took my own road trips and was fascinated by the unexpected sight of Christmas lights on country homes and the bright details of neon signs in the city.

I travelled up and down I-35 between Dallas and Austin for many years. Living and working in both cities I had long commutes to work and traveled along city streets to avoid freeway madness. I began to count on seeing certain signs along the road to mark my progress. Some signs remained constant while others faded away or were replaced.

I've always loved photography and it felt natural to record what I saw. I've put this site together to share images captured in my travels.
