October's First Sunday (10/2/2022)
We started extra early this Sunday, and started out on the east side of Deep Ellum, on Hall Street between Commerce and Elm.
There's a huge mural that covers the east side of two towers of the Case Building on Hall, looking out toward downtown. You can read more about it here - the mural is named "Garden Boy" by Pixel Pancho, and is so big that you may want to view it from several blocks away.
Just across Main to the south are two much smaller murals facing Hall.

It's easy to overlook street art when you drive down through streets. Over the past week we've found a few more in the area between Canton and Main, from Hall to Exposition.
One of our first posts was about murals on Murray Street which included several works on the walls of the Deep Ellum Art Company. This week, we noticed this artful gate on Commerce at the same business.
Check them out - they run an indoor and outdoor gallery that looks fantastic!
In an alley nearby, we saw this humorous take on rodeo riders and their dogies facing Canton Street.
Look north from the parking lot at Photographica to see these cowboys and their dogies!
Check out the Ed. W. Smith Machine Works building at Commerce and Murray. This mural covers two walls and is a lovely monochrome mechanical work.

I love street art, because it ranges from monumental pieces that are almost too big to comprehend to works that are shyer and hidden away, like the murals in the courtyard as Sons of Hermann Hall. New works seem to pop up frequently, either decorating new surfaces or replacing older work.
We've pretty much covered Deep Ellum east of Hall Street between Hickory and Elm over the past month (I think!). Please use the comments below if you see more - I'll post any that we find.
Going forward, we're looking forward to covering a new part of Deep Ellum. We will start on the east end of Elm and work our way to the west, down to Good Latimer. There are so many murals left to see!
