East side images from Deep Ellum
After proper caffeination, we set out this morning to capture more murals in our Month of Sundays project.
Earlier this year, I walked down Murray Street and photographed several murals on the side of the Deep Ellum Art Company building. Murray Street is all torn up at the moment, but I captured a fuller view of Traveling Man watching the sunset, with a nice segue from the Deep Ellum Map to a DJ's hand on a turntable (!).
We noticed a faded Traveling Man on a building with a 'For Lease' sign a couple of weeks ago on Canton at Hall, and thought we better catch him today before he disappeared.
"Shepherd's School" This was a daycare center that's no longer there.
Just around the corner on Hall at Clover is a nice rendering of a water tower.
We decided to stop by the Allgood Cafe on Main since we were getting a little hungry and on the way we saw this wonderful piece by Dan Colcer.
Everywhere you turn on Main you can find something new. We ended the day by turning east and crossing the street to the parking lot at Terry Black's Barbecue to see the bright blue Dallas mural celebrating Robert Johnson and Dallas icons.

This version of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" is in a gated parking area but easily visible from Main.
